Timeless Thanksgiving
A full harvest on table is laid,
to welcome each lord and maid,
feasting with gracious hands,
the food from bountious lands.
Thereby they give thanks unto
the divinity they believe did do
the blessings upon the riches given
there upon earth and in heaven.
Fireplace lit in castle hearth
cheering the cherubs of the earth,
playing with their wooden toys,
are all those little girls and boys.
Though the peasant do work long
they break out into pleasant song,
while their clean dressed kings eat
all the newest harvest of wheat.
All of them though miles apart,
in manners, custom, wealth and heart,
do there partake in feast with family dear,
blessed by the fruits of that whole year.
to welcome each lord and maid,
feasting with gracious hands,
the food from bountious lands.
